Custom domains

Enterprise Owners can use a branded address such as app.yourfarm.example. You need access to your domain's DNS. Use a dedicated subdomain, not your website's address; each organization supports one active custom domain.

Before you start

Keep the standard PoultryDesk address available. Adding a domain does not activate it or move your team.

Step 1: add the domain

Open Settings > Domains, enter the hostname only, without https:// or a path, then Add domain. Its status is PENDING. Adding does not route traffic: publish DNS and verify ownership before activating.

Step 2: publish the two DNS records

Copy both records from the domain card into your DNS provider:

  • TXT: the _poultrydesk-challenge. name and full code prove ownership.
  • CNAME: the branded hostname points to cname.poultrydesk.com.

Some providers append the domain automatically; avoid a doubled name. Allow minutes to hours for publication.

Step 3: verify and activate

  1. Choose Verify ownership. If TXT is not found, wait and retry.
  2. Once VERIFIED, check the CNAME is published and Activate domain.
  3. At ACTIVE, open the address. Its secure certificate issues automatically.

What changes once the domain is active

Team sign-in, invitations and SAML use the branded address. Your original address still reaches the same data. Password reset and email verification use the standard PoultryDesk address.

Choose one address for daily work. Sign-in and offline queues belong to each address separately. Sync queued work from the address where it was recorded before switching. Update your SAML settings if needed.

Turning a domain off

Disable stops branded traffic within a minute; the standard address keeps working. Disabling is permanent in the app, and the domain cannot be re-added. Contact support to restore it.

When something is not working

  • Verification fails: check the complete TXT code and expected record name.
  • Not active: check the domain card's status.
  • Website stopped working: restore its DNS and use a dedicated subdomain.
  • Bare domain: unsupported; use app. or another subdomain.
