Sorting eggs while you sell and counting farm eggs

Use these steps for Farm produced eggs. Purchased eggs stay in resale item/location stock.

Sort eggs while you sell

  1. Open Finance > Sales > + Record sale, choose customer and farm-produced egg stock, then package, quantity and price.
  2. For a grade shortfall, choose Sort for this sale. Use Also use sorted stock if some eggs are already graded.
  3. Enter extra eggs by grade under Extra sorted eggs to keep and losses under Eggs thrown away while sorting, in individual eggs.
  4. Review sorting with the sale and Confirm and post.

Sorting and sale post together or neither; the operation can queue offline. This supports egg-only orders without delivery, where every item is eggs from the same farm; when it is not available the shortfall note says why. Otherwise Go to grading records sorting separately and returns to the saved sale draft. That sorting remains even if you cancel the sale.

Correct a sorting that did not happen

Open the sale and Correct sorting. It returns sorted eggs to Unsorted; the sale and thrown-away eggs stay. If eggs were sold, void the sale first. Returns go to sorted stock or recorded loss, never undo sorting automatically.

Import sales that were sorted

Include these columns:

Column Enter
Preparation mode Existing stock or Sort now
Operation reference Shared reference for rows sorted together
Eggs sorted now Eggs for the sale
Sorted on Sorting date
Kept eggs / Thrown away eggs Once per operation, on one row

Choose the farm in review. Rows approve/post/correct together; exclude the whole operation or restore its excluded row. Sorted sales import unpaid: record payment later. Sorting before collection or on/before a stock-correcting farm count is refused.

Count a farm's eggs

  1. Open an organization-wide stock count with Storage location blank.
  2. In Farm eggs, choose the farm and production system holding your eggs. If sorted eggs were never graded in the app, use Grade eggs first.
  3. Enter Unsorted, each grade and Withheld. Blank means not counted; 0 means counted and none found.
  4. Record egg count, then Submit count after the walk.

With sale-time sorting enabled, baseline uses count time and preserves later movements. Without it, baseline is when the count opened: record before anyone posts collection, grading or sale. Small differences can settle automatically; larger ones need review, and sorting is not suggested.

When the count shows a sorting nobody recorded

Where enabled, every egg difference needs manager review. If the ungraded shortage exactly matches grade surpluses, Egg sorting offers the inferred sorting. Confirm only if it happened; otherwise correct differences separately. Every grade must be counted; Withheld is never sorted.

When a count is refused

Resolve another unsettled count first. Recount if suggested sorting differs from reality or later movements cannot absorb the adjustment. Refused approval posts nothing.

Where farm eggs can go

Farm pools receive collections and lose eggs through grading, sale or disposal. They cannot transfer between locations or receive supplier purchases. Opening-stock imports enter ungraded and need recorded sorting. Receive bought eggs at a farm-assigned store; use separate resale items for purchased grades.
