Planning ahead with forecasts and budgets
Open Finance > Planning. Plans do not create expenses or move money; record actual transactions separately when they happen.
What a plan covers
Choose Scope: Organization, Site or Lot, then the named Site/Lot if needed. Closed Lots remain available. Unavailable saved scopes stay visible until changed.
Filtering planning lists
Use Filter for scope and named record. Outside the selected scope needs a matching choice or clearing. Clear filters keeps sorting; changes return to page one.
Forecasts
Choose Model function, scope, model version, Horizon (4-52 weeks) and Day/Week/Month bucket.
Broiler inputs
Enter all drivers: placement count/date, sell age in days, sell weight in grams, feed g/bird/day, daily mortality, feed price/kg and sale price/kg. Only Broiler currently computes a projected series. Other models record the run without projected figures. Older Saved assumptions remain unchanged on refresh.
Refreshing a forecast
Refresh re-runs the model without changing actual farm records. Archive removes it from active lists while keeping history.
Budgets
- Set scope, Window start/end and Week/Month/Quarter bucket.
- Enter Revenue, Cost of goods, Operating costs, Cash in and Cash out per period in ordinary currency units. Blank means nothing planned; net cash calculates.
- Add optional notes and save Draft.
- Lock an agreed budget. Use Replace for a later baseline; the old one stays.
Up to 160 periods; choose a larger bucket for longer windows. A changed window keeps periods with the same start date. Legacy single-list budgets need period amounts entered before variance comparison.
Recurring expenses
Enter Label, Amount, Weekly/Monthly/Quarterly frequency and Start date; End date and category are optional. End when the commitment stops, no earlier than start. This never creates the actual expense for you.
Capital schedules
Enter Label, Amount and Scheduled date for planned assets. Remove if no longer proceeding. It is a plan, not a payment.
Scenarios
- Create a forecast, then choose scenario Name and Base forecast.
- Under Overrides, tick only drivers to change; add reasons if useful.
- Compare against baseline.
Enter all eight Base broiler inputs and ordinary money prices, such as 450.00.
Run comparison reads them without saving them; Reset clears them. Filter scenarios by Base forecast;
archived/unavailable saved selections stay identified until changed.
What you get
Expected figures, an agreed budget baseline and known commitments to compare with actual results.
